What We Do

historic ideologies of wealth and status have turned our gardens into barren landscapes, unsupportive of the wildlife we once knew.

We want to lead the new idea of wealth, rich and diverse gardens.

Our Mission

Globally, gardens have gradually transformed into barren spaces, lacking the rich diversity and wildlife they once supported. This shift began in the 1700s, when lawns became a status symbol for the wealthy. Prime land, once used for livestock, was left unused, showcasing affluence. Over time, lawns became the norm, and our green spaces lost the rich polyculture of trees, flowering plants, fungi, and lichen. As these essential elements disappeared, so did the mammals, birds, and insects that relied on them, disrupting the natural trophic cascades.

At Spades Gardens, we're dedicated to reversing this trend. Our mission is to help reinvigorate your outdoor spaces, creating environments where nature and people can thrive together. By offering eco-friendly solutions and sustainable gardening practices, we aim to restore balance and biodiversity to your garden, transforming it into a vibrant haven for wildlife once again.

“Within our own lifetimes, we have seen the natural world transform, with a few species that can live alongside humans seeming to thrive, while other species that we, our parents or our grandparents remember from our childhoods seeming to dwindle or disappear altogether.”
